4 Years

Today marks Austin and my 4 year wedding anniversary. I'm not a believer in public sappiness...so I'll keep this brief and and end with a couple of my favorite pics from 4 years ago.

Bed Head

Every morning when Naomi wakes up, her hair sticks out like she's been attacked by the strongest wind storm ever. Not sure what she does in her sleep, but I went to check in on her a couple hours after she fell asleep last night, and her hair was already out of control!!!
Here's a shot of her when she woke up this morning, and one from over the weekend. (had to post the weekend one..check out the onesie! she's my surfer beach baby).
I think Naomi's putting on some extra weight. Looking at her pictures I've noticed a little more baby chub in her cheeks, yay, and it looks like she's outgrown her 3 month old onesies (check out the first picture below - looking a little tight/chubalicious in her 3mth clothes).

HOT HOT HOT

This weekend we skipped spring and jumped right into the heat of Summer. It was over 90 degrees today! We took advantage of the warm weather, raced out to buy a baby pool on Friday night, went for a stroll at Branch Brook park to see the cherry blossoms, decided on having a last minute bbq with jaime gene and alli, and broke out the pool for the babies to cool down. Overall an incredible weekend...but I think Naomi may have gotten a little too much sun cause her cheeks are a bit pink. UGH and that's with me lathering on the baby sunblock (spf 60+) until she was nice and white. We'll have to figure something out for our vacation in May! Sorry for the picture overload...but that's what you all really want anyway!

Signs she's growing...

Every morning Austin takes care of Naomi before passing her off to my mom and heading off to work. He usually puts Naomi in her bouncer while she drinks her milk, and if he has to hop in the shower. This has been great as she loves her bouncer...but today I think she's trying to tell us that she's growing too big for her baby bouncer!!

10 months

Naomi turned 10 months yesterday. It's hard to believe that in 2 months she'll already be a year old! We started thinking about her birthday party, so far all we've done is pick a date, June 20th, the say after her birthday.

For her 10 month birthday, we had my cousins and Chris come over for lunch. It wasn't really a 10mth celebration though; three of my cousins were visiting from the philippines. It was LOUD with everyone over and excitedly yelling and screaming, but Naomi took it all in stride. She was passed back and forth between everyone at the party, and although she prefers to be held by Austin and I, she's definitely getting over her stranger anxiety! She even reached out to her uncle chris for him to pick her up! That's a huge step for us.

After all the excitement, it took much longer than normal for Naomi to go down for her afternoon nap. After we put her down, I heard lots of laughing and clapping coming from her room, so I peeked in, and found her SITTING up in her crib. While she's beeing pushing into a sitting position on her own for a couple of weeks now, this was the first time she pushed up while in her crib. She was obviously excited. After lots of rolling around and giggling, we finally put herself to sleep and slept long enough for both austin and I, my brother, and my mom to all get an afteroon nap in as well!

The past month was a major milestone month for us! Here are some highlights:
Crawling
Pushing into a sitting position
Kissing
Making her dolls kiss each other
Blinking when you ask "where are your pretty eyes"
Raising her hand when you ask "who is naomi wei"
Back to raising her arms up for a touchdown
Down consistently to 2 naps
Standing while leaning on a table
Pulling into a standing position (albeit with a little help)
Clapping hands
Waving bye bye
Feeding herself fingerfoods
Eating 3 solid meals a day
Bathing in a real bathtub vs on the kitchen counter

Busy busy

I find myself with less and less time to blog, and when I finally do have time, so much has happened that I dont know what to write about and push it off for even longer.
Anyway, it's been a busy couple of days for us. Austin and I had a much needed 4 day easter weekend. Over the weekend we applied for Naomi's first passport (yes we're going on vacay!), bought a ton of babyproofing stuff, (subsequently returned a ton of babyproofing stuff), started baby proofing (corner guards, outlets covered), painted our magnetic chalkboard wall, went to Good Friday service, went to easter service, met up with Gene, Jaime and Alli and went to the National Museum of History. Phew...by Sunday night, I felt like I needed a couple days off from my days off!
It was great spending time with Naomi. It's amazing to me how much she changes and learns everyday. I can't even begin to list everything she's learned in the past couple of days...but her latest trick is to feed herself finger foods (mainly cheerios, but yesterday she had spaghetti). It's hilarious to watch her stuff her whole hand in her mouth to get one cheerio in there. When she's done, she claps for herself. Gotta love that kid. She raises her hand if you ask her "who is naomi wei." She's also able to stand for short period of times while leaning on a table for support. Guess we better pick up the pace on our babyproofing efforts!!

Since I'm at work, I dont have access to all of our pictures, so here are a couple of pictures from Austin's photo blog

Home Improvements

This past weekend we got around to painting the wall in our kitchen. We used a magnetic primer, and a chalkboard paint, and voila, we now have a magnetic chalkboard in the kitchen! Wonder if we'll be able to confine Naomi to this wall, or if she'll be like me and try to try out her artistry on all walls in the house...

Photos

We had a professional photographer come over and snap shots of Naomi when she was itty bitty at 7 months. At 8 months, we had her come back to take updated shots. She'll be back one more time, probably when Naomi can start walking. She just updated her blog with some of the shots she took. Here are the ones she featured.

The start of something new

Amy has been absolutely amazing with this blog. If you are anything like me, you love reading it on a daily basis. Lately, I've been pondering how I can help to contribute more to this blog. Now, I am nowhere as eloquent as she is with the words. That is where we differ a lot. She reads things and experiences the world through words. I am more of a visual creature and like to notice things through the camera lens. Guess that is why the only books I read are graphic novels. But that is neither here nor there.

Today, I will be starting a photo blog of our little Naomi. Just various pictures and images that give you a peek into her world. I hope to add to it on a regular basis. The goal is one picture a day, but we will see how long that lasts. It is over at Wordpress. Much thanks to Stacey for the inspiration. I am sure I will post a bunch of the same pictures here as well, but if you are interested in checking out my little foray in the world of Blogging, head over there now to check out my first entry. And for all you lazies out there, I will post the first picture here.
