Some new comfort items?

Naomi has two comfort items that she carries around with, and sleeps with every day. Whenever she's frustrated she, tired or cranky she always asks for either Mimi (her lambie blanket) or Izzy (her little baby doll dressed as a bunny). She loves them so much that we've had to get multiples so we can wash them, and even then they're starting to show a lot of wear. She sings good morning to them every day, kisses them all the time, puts them in her stroller and pushes them around, it's incredibly cute. Recently, she's been asking to leave them in her crib when she wakes up. She'll say, "No, mimi, izzy, bed" and throw them back in. Periodically throughout the day she'll still ask for them, so I usually keep them in my diaper bag in case she needs them. But the past two nights, she's refused to hold them during prayer time and our lullaby before bedtime. Instead, she's chosen completely random and different comfort items. On Sunday night, she desperately clung to a baby wipe (yes the kind we use to wipe her bum). She refused to let us take it away from her, and ended up falling asleep with both the wipe and her Mimi clutched to her chest.
Last night was equally odd, she grabbed her crocs that ah-ma gave her, these are too big for her and sit at the bottom of her closet. She calls them , "ah-ma's shoes". and she also insisted on wearing her Red Sox baseball cap. When I put her down in her crib, she got upset when I tried to take either the shoes (which she was wearing on her hands) or her hat off. So I let her be, and she fell asleep wearing a redsox hat and crocs on each hand.
Poor Mimi and Izzy were tossed to the side of her crib.

Accessorize me...

Naomi loves wearing my necklaces, bracelets, shoes and hats. She is starting to build up quite the collection of jewelry of her own. I recently bought her a Hello Kitty pearl (faux) necklace, bracelet and ring set. She literally squealed with delight when we got home from daycare, and I pulled the package out of my bag. She immediately asked to put the entire set on, proceeded to dance around the house while continually checking out her bling.

Excuse the messy shirt, apparently she likes to accessorize her outfits at daycare by dumping yogurt on herself.

She also gets really excited when she knows she's wearing special outfits, like her qipao that she wore for Chinese New Year (Thanks Auntie Claire!!). As soon as she put it on, she ran into our bedroom to check herself out in the mirror.


She doesn't discriminate when it comes to accessories, and will often ask to wear Austin's hats as well. And of course, when he obliges and puts them on her, she again, runs to the mirror to see how it looks. It cracks me up watching her perform in front of the mirror. She'll smile, laugh, kiss herself, wave, make faces and pose. Silly girl, guess she gets that from Daddy.

Overheard last night...

Naomi singing goodnight to her dolls, and goodnight to herself (Nomi) “good night mi mi, goodnight izzy, goodnight dog, goodnight nomi”
This lasted a good 20 minutes before she finally fell asleep.

Sunny Day

We finally had a sunny, not freeze your pants off day today so we decided to enjoy the sun a little after church. Of course the wind started up about 5 mins after we got out of the car, and it got too cold, so we had to go back in. Where is spring!??

Food coma

After church, Naomi insisted on holding a box of crackers. About her 10th cracker through the box, food coma hit.

The potty and the mirror

Last night when we got home, Naomi pulled her potty out of the bathroom, dragged it so it was in front of our full length mirror. Took off all her clothes, and sat on the potty, while making faces at herself in the mirror.
She didn’t actually use the potty though.

Potty Time!!!!

After we got home from the city this afternoon, Naomi said, "POTTY" and walked straight to the bathroom and waited by her potty. We asked her if she had to go poo-poo, and she said, "YEA!!" So Austin took of her pants and diaper and she sat on her potty, (but then decided she needed her socks off too). After about 3 minutes, she did exactly what she said she needed to do!! It's probably a fluke, she is only 19 months, and we weren't expecting to really potty train her til she was at least 2, but it definitely is exciting! And of course it introduces to a new realm of cleaning out a potty..gross.
